Yes, it can happen!

Sweet Lizzie, age 9 requested a cool cake for her birthday this weekend. After weeks of planning, preparing, baking and mentally designing, the cake was ready to be covered with fondant. It was only going to be two tiers however it just didn't give the effect of the 'Topsy Turvy' so I added a third tier. While baking I then realizing I did not make enough fondant to cover 3 tiers. This was at 9:45pm on Thursday night. This cake was to be pick up Friday at 1:00. The 3rd tier wasn't finished baking until 11:00pm. I had to take the day off from work that Friday. Call Lizzie's mom in hope that I could deliver the cake to her house (an hour from my house) I had to wait until the next day to proceed. Once the cake store opened at 10:00am I bought the fondant I needed to complete the cake. Decorated by 2:00, drove an hour one way, dropped off the cake to rush back home, get ready to see Cirque Du Soleil and dinner at 5:30pm. We made in just in time. Then I get a phone call saying the cake is falling over!! The ride made the cake shift off the dowels and had collapsed the bottom tier! I felt terrible!! I told the mom what to do so that at least two tiers could be used. I pray Lizzie forgives me!
